Whatever the season, the Pays des Vans is a place to escape to, far from the beaten tracks and guided tours, midway between deep Cevennes valleys and high granite mountain tops, sun-drenched garrigue landscapes and sandstone hillsides. With curiosity as your guide you will discover all the natural and cultural riches of this area.
 Villages to explore
Perched on the mountain sides are villages with narrow stone streets, fountains, Romanesque churches, capitelles (dry-stone buildings), wash-houses, accols (farmed terrasses), clèdes (barns for drying chestnuts), béals (irrigation canals), etc., providing numerous trails and clues to understanding the region, or even imagining it all over again. Take a week, maybe more, maybe less.
